The maker of US medical devices and software has died after the truck hit a trucker’s trucker car, killing one person and injuring nine others.
US Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said the collision on Interstate 70 near New York City took place around 4:00 p.m. local time.
“The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Administration is aware of a fatality that occurred during an accident involving a commercial vehicle and a passenger vehicle on I-70, near Newburyport, Massachusetts,” the agency said in a statement.
The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, the statement said.
The cause of the crash was not immediately available.
The accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-71 near New Hampshire.
In a statement, New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan said the state “strongly condemns” the crash and said she was “deeply saddened by the loss of life and the injury to the victims and their families.”
The crash occurred in the Northbound lanes, the agency added.
The statement said the driver of a truck was being treated at the scene.
A New Hampshire state trooper was on the scene and an ambulance was waiting at the crash scene, the FMCSA said.
FMCSE spokeswoman Rebecca Schatzow told ABC News that the crash is being investigated by state police.
A US official said there was no indication that the accident was terrorism related, but it was “an act of terrorism.”
